A letter from Pastor Steve
Dear Church Family:
Five months ago, a microscopic organism, the coronavirus, was first detected as the cause of a human respiratory illness in Wuhan, China. At the beginning of this year, merely four months ago, the term “coronavirus” wasn’t even worthy of spell-checking and Wikipedia had little to say about it.
All of that has changed in the blink of an eye! So, now we are being forced to adapt. In quick succession we’ve been asked to not meet in groups larger than 250, 25, and now 10. Every day brings with it a news conference, followed by a fresh proclamation, often at odds with the day before.
At Brockton AG we are doing our best to stay abreast of the numerous changes. We have reported our own carefully crafted responses, only to have them derailed in a matter of hours! Again and again we have “gone back to the drawing board”, and again and again we have been driven to our knees in prayer. So, this is where we are right now...
- Per the Governor’s order, public gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited until May 4 in our state.
- As a result of the Governor’s mandate, we will not have Sunday or Wednesday ministries, and no scheduled group gatherings at the church, until the ban is lifted.
- The ministries affected by the aforementioned order include regular Sunday and midweek services, regular prayer groups (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays), AWANA, Champions Youth, Connect Groups, FPU, and ESOL. The Food Bank will operate in a limited capacity on a trial basis. (Food will be given to the Food Bank clients while they sit in their cars this week as an experiment.)
- The church offices will be open during normal office hours, to answer questions and pray with/counsel those in need.
- A Sunday morning “service” will be streamed live at 10 AM this Sunday via Facebook. Please join unitedly with your church family at that time for worship, community, prayer, and the Word. You will also be able to watch the Sunday morning service at any time after the initial live stream as well.
- Please, please remember to send in your tithes and offerings during this crucial time! You can do this via this website electronically (CLICK HERE), by mail, or in person at the church office. I cannot stress enough how significant it is that stewardship be an ongoing priority.
I will post daily updates on the BAG Facebook page, and periodic updates on our website. If you have questions or need help, call one of the associate/assistant pastors or myself. Our cell phone numbers are listed below. We are here to serve you.
In closing, these are days of opportunity! People are going to be increasingly open to the Lord. Let’s be ready to give a good account of our faith.
As I’ve said before, the church is as important to a community as the fire, police, and medical departments. Our outlook and philosophy of ministry hasn’t changed. However, in light of new edicts and mandates, we must obey the law. But we shall continue to believe that Jesus Christ is the Cornerstone of society and the hope of the world.
With an increasing hope for the days to come,
Pastor Steve Warner
